You know that saying “Better late than Never?” – well say hello to my “Stop’s Night Market” Post. Yes, I am aware this event happened last month and I’m a wee bit late on the post – but I had to share the food porn and the amazing cause behind this two day eating extravaganza! Before I get into the nitty gritty – enjoy the food porn and I’ll see you at the end of the tunnel…
Phew! Congratulations you made it to the end of the post! I’m a little embarassed to say I even omitted a few pics to keep this post “short & quick”. LOL!
Let me tell you what happens when more than 60 chefs and 35 one-of-a-kind food carts (designed by local designers) pack into the back parking lot of Honest Ed’s? – It quickly becomes my most favourite summer culinary event. This event has definitely spoiled me when it comes to any other food event – the line ups were short and the food and drinks were free flowing – it was everything I ever wanted in a food festival.
Besides the amazing food & drinks – me stuffing my face was actually benefitting someone else – the Stop Commnity Food Center is an amazing local charity that “thrives to increase access to healthy food in a manner that maintains dignity, builds health and community and challenges inequality“. The two day event raised $80,000. Tickets were $50 and it was all you could eat and drink – at least till the vendors ran out of food.
The Stop did an incredible job running the event. I walked in thinking it was going to be a complete shit show and a feeding frenzy. In fact, the crowds were calm and the line ups were decent and only about two or three stands ran out of food/drinks – two hours into the event – not too bad.
Look out for this event next year – where I’m actually considering buying tickets to BOTH days!
